My fuel gauge is reading 1/2 when it's actually full.
Does anyone know if it is caused by the sender or is the gauge bad?

if you take the wire off the sending unit and quickly put it to ground your gauge should max out on full also it should go to empty when you take the wire off, usally it is the sending unit.
