Hi, I'm trying to restore a bobcat 742 (vin 5019-m-17432) and most of my fins on my flywheel are broken. Bobcat wants 1196.00 for a new one and im trying to avoid this expenditure having already spent a lot on having hoses replaced. Does anyone have a source for a used one? Has anyone used an electric fan instead of the flywheel. If I have to I will break down and get it. Im just trying to check my alternatives first. Thanks

You are saying flywheel. The fins are on the aluminum Fan that bolts to the actual steel flywheel. ie two pieces. Be sure you are pricing just the Fan and not the Fan/Flywheel pair. I don't know if it was ever sold as an assembly or not. Just throwing it out for you. (For balance purposes it very well could have been sold aa a pair.) -Dick

Sounds like your referring to the cooling shroud and fan!?.. If im right, there was a youtube video of a guy who did this, he says it works, others say it wont, I personally don't see why it wouldn't, If you dont find it let me know ill see if I can locate the video and post here. Also I would like to ask what route you went with to get your hoses made and how much it ended up costing?, Im about to embark on the same project.

The 6562270 number is for the Kubota flywheel on a 743. The manual for the 742 does indicate that it has a removable fan on the flywheel. I don't have a part number for that, unfortunately.

Somewhere in there you will need a 3/8-inch 12 point socket to take it apart. Don't remember if it is the drive hub or the flywheel-to-fan bolts. -Dick

To have the hoses built cost about $350 in Atlanta. My mechanic said best to replace while out. My fan/flywheel seem to be attached unless there is a separation point I can't see. I have someone looking for one in a local bobcat graveyard. If he can't find it I will have to purchase from bobcat of Atlanta for $1200. I'm in too deep to stop. Some said cut the fins and put electric fan but if it's not a commonly done thing I'll bit the bullet. I'm new to forum and trying to see how to post a picture. Thanks all for your help.

I added picture of flywheel as my avatar
I remember a guy that did a thermo fan upgrade, he had 2 fans mounted on the outside of the machine with a shroud around it to make sure it pulled air from the radiator and oil cooler to the outside.
It did work, ideally a replacement fly wheel is your best bet, but that price is just insane. The blower housing on a burnt machine cost me $400 a good 15 years ago, that was at staff price, I'd hate to know what it is now over here in .au

I have a nice blower wheel off a 642 that I am going to sell. I am doing a complete engine swap and I will not be using this fan. Let me know if you still need one. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b7CK-6J2Awry8zs-sk-n5XtP1kGltXFn/view?usp=sharing
