Hi there. We own a small startup ranch in E TN and seem to be in the equipment collection phase! Just bought a 2017 takeuchi tl8 at auction. I'm mostly a New Holland guy (tractors, backhoe) so I would appreciate any input from experienced owners about this unit, or track steers in general.

My middle son is my mechanic so I'm ready to put him to work.

What should be inspected first and why?
What should be replaced immediately, or shortly?
What spare parts are a must to have on hand?
Best way to train outside of the cab (if any)?

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

clean machine under cab too. I would look for leaks and if found work on those first. If machine is dry determine condition of fluids and change if necessary, grease joints and record hours and date changed.make sure you understand how display panel works and is it all functional. as any machinery seat time is the best teacher, just keep your rpm down a bit till you get use to pressure needed to work controls. have fun, I am in s.e. tn.also. cleveland. I would keep on hand all the filters. a buddy of mine swears by not at takeuchi loaders .
