I bought a 2006 T 250 with a Fecon Timber Axe attachment. I am clearing 34 acres of heavely wooded propeerty, most of the trees I'm clearing are 3" or smaller. This is a fantastic set-up. I have been working it weekends and am making good progress. I went out this morning, greased joints, Filled Hyd. Fluid.....you know general maint..... I went to work, picking up where I left off Saturday, about 1/2 mile from the road in very heavey woods..... after about 30 minutes I noticed smoke and thought that possibly something ahd gotten stuck in the axe, got hot dropped out and started a fire in the woods... No such lick, it was the BOBCAT!!!! the fir seemed to be directly behind the driver's seat and was impossible to get at.... Of course I did not have a fire bottle so I watched it build.... After a couple minutes I thought I could put it out with dirt. We have sandy loam so I scrached, clawed and burrowed to get enough dirt. After about 10 minutes I get it out... Now I have to figure how to get the unit out of the back of the porperty that has no roads and barely scratched paths..... Thanks for reading... I guess the above has nothing to do with my questions.... Is this normal for Bobcats to light up? Is there a way to clear away leaves, pine needles, etc... from deep in the motor compartment? I guess I just really need help for what's next.... I know the check book will be pounded, I just don't want to make it worse than it already is..... Any help would be great.....
