I just bought an early 911 and want to know which of the two ports on the far right end of the valve block is the input and which is the return. This model predates the use of the Husco valve block. I have an idea which it is, but I got that wrong once on a Trojan backhoe so I'm looking for an authoritative answer. (This is going on an 843.) Thanks for any help.

You can find the schematics in the Bobcat parts catalog:

https://partscatalog.bobcat.com/

Click “Select Model”
Type in “backhoe”
Click on “Loader”
Scroll down to “911 Backhoe”
Then search through for the schematic that you need.

The answer I just got from the gemini AI system agreed with my guess. It took 2 seconds. Amazing. By the way, here's what it said:
On the early Bobcat 911 backhoe units utilizing the multi-section Cessna control valve, the upper port on the inlet section is designated for the pressure input line (supply from the loader). The lower port directly beneath it serves as the return-to-tank (return) line.

Getting these mixed up will cause the system's main relief valve to be bypassed, completely preventing the backhoe from functioning and risking serious internal damage to the seals or the valve casting itself.

Getting the input and return lines mixed up is a classic headache. It’s always safer to verify with a manual or diagram if you can find one, especially on those older valve blocks.
