One of the drive chain on a 773 bobcat is way too loose , is there a way to adjust them ?
I thought one back chain was more slack than the other but I discovered that one was slack at the bottom of the pan while the other at the top . Probably due to a slight steering performed prior to stopping it. They both have about 1 1/2 in. of slack on one side by 1/2 in. of slack on the other . I only took the back cover off so I don`t know how slack the front is . the back sprockets look really good .The only way is to replace them, there will be two per side. For it to be really stretched, your sprockets may also have worn.
How loose is it? and how much slack is there in the other chain on the same side? you can slide the motor carrier back and forth to give a slight adjustment in chain slack, but there isn't much there (assuming its the same as the older style machines). I have never worked on a 773
When checking this, you should block the machine so the wheels are off the ground. The chains will have slack at the bottom then. Thats a fair difference, but as long as they aren't slapping the bottom of the chain case they should be ok....I thought one back chain was more slack than the other but I discovered that one was slack at the bottom of the pan while the other at the top .
