I have been the owner of an 873 with a Deutz engine for about a year now, but when I have changed oil, it seems like a significant amount of engine oil remains in the oil cooler (I assume). Is there a good way to drain or remove this oil before refilling the engine with new oil?

Acording to the 863 manual (same engine) you don't do anything special.
Unless someone here has come up with a creative method of draining the cooler that will likely have to be good enough.
