Well, went out to the garage to fire up the skidsteer, expecting about a foot of snow today. I last ran it about two months ago. Found diesel fuel, about three feet round under the skidsteer on the floor. Any idea where it may be coming from? I checked the fuel filter and it's not leaking from there. Where should I begin to look? Remeber, be specific. I don't know crap about these things. Bryan

How do you know it's diesel and not engine oil or hydro or coolant? Smell test?
Get a large piece of cardboard (maybe unfold a good sized box flat) and slide it under the machine but over the 3 foot stain. Wait a few hours to a few days... depending how bad the leak is... you are checking to see if anything else has dripped on the cardboard. Be careful not to move the cardboard... the leak is dripping from directly over the spot on the cardboard so start following the trail from there.
Hoses and hose connections (clamps) are the primary culprits followed by fittings then pumps and finally the tank itself. Don't forget to check the fuel shutoff and fuel return lines.
bTw... 3 foot circle on concrete after 2 months is a very slow leak. Was there actual liquid on the floor or was it more like a stain? Visible liquid would indicate an ongoing drip while staining with no liquid present would indicate a leak that had stopped.

I smelled it and it is diesel. I put some of the liquid pickup stuff under it yesterday morning. I checked today and it is about three inches round now. It is a slow leak of diesel, I'm thinking a fuel line. I checked all the injectors, basically all I could see and still nothing. I will keep an eye out and let you know. Thanks for the help.

Even fuel filters can leak. You really need to just open the back and feel around and see if anyting smells like diesel while tracing the fuel lines.
