I am looking at a 250 deere with 2700 hours. But I keep thinking I should go with a 763 bobcat since there are more cats out there (therefore more part and info). Is one better then the other? Are the attachments universal can I use a bobcat 909 backhoe with the 250 deere? I need some input. Thanks.

The 250 deere is more on par with a 863 in hp lift capcity etc. The 909 hoe will fit on the quick attach but the 2 arms that steady it with the 2" trailer balls will have to be modified. My uncle has a series 1 250 and is quite happy with it. its kinda a apples to oranges thing as the deere is a much large machine and I'd be more concerned about weather the overall size of the machine suited my needs.

I am new to skid steers, but a mechanic I do hard pack removal for said that although he works at Cat during the day, he repairs all brands on the side, and is very comfortable recommending any of the "American" machines: Cat, Deere, Bobcat, Case, at least. He won't comment on the others only because he is not familiar w/ them. Hope this helps. j
