getting ready to reassemble a 950 out of a 553 . the second ring has a relief on it .i'm thinking it goes down ,but does anybody know for sure. i know i should have paid more attention to it when disassembling but i was more focused on the broken /frozen rings on the middle cylinder as i pulled them out and didn't notice the relief . thanks ..

It depends where the chamfer is, I was always told:
If its in, its up
If its out its down.
If you look up my profile, send me an e-mail, i should have a pdf with the details, i can check it for you.
I'm not sure if that engine has tapered rings or not, but when they are in, you know to make sure they will rotate by hand? they need to be free to move.

I just looked at several Kubota service mauuals and they all had this same diagram for the rings.
