Cylinder covers??

Have bobcat S650. Dealer can sell me rear lift cylinder covers which are basically Leather or some material that's tuff and keeps sticks and debris out of engine compartment. I fight that building up a lot with doing tree work. Have any of you guys bought those or seen how they last? Anybody build their own kit? It's like $1500, too much for me!

I have never seen these, surely there are other options that are't $1,500.
