I have a 743 with the Kubota v1702 engine. I have a crack in the 2 middle cylinders. My first option is to try to get it fixed. Do any of you know a good shop that can do this job and do it right?? Thanks

Western North Carolina I also need a new thermostat and wondered if there is a good place to order online
ORDER A NEW HEAD FROM BOCAT PARTS, it will cost 2200 and be bare bones no valves etc, find one online, will come complete at 1/2 the cost. heads dont repair well, need new,or reconditioned, but mesure bores fores firs to see if rebuild is viable.if a set o rings and a new head is justifable go for it, but stll looking at some serious cash, and questionable, as to injection pump etc, 5000 new eng with warr. thats new inj pump etc, youre call

Crack repair in cast iron heads has mixed results. If someone knows what they are doing, i have been told it is very good, but some cut corners and don't use enough pins and it will not seal right. New after market ones are available on ebay though.
As for a thermostat, talk to your local Kubota dealer, they would be cheaper than Bobcat, even Ebay would be an option.

I just bought a 743 thermostat from the local BC dealer and it was $18+.

I rebuilt a chevy 350 for my old truck 10 years ago. I had 1 cylinder head "repaired" that was cracked. It was never right. Check Ebay, Theres plenty of new heads for your V1702. Cost will probably be around $1000 with head, valves, and gaskets, but will be well worth it. My old 743 had the head replaced. Kubotas are known for cracking cylinder heads when overheating. I could never get mine to get hotter than the middle of the gauge though. The company I work for sells Kubota parts and I couldnt tell you how many cylinder heads I've assembled. :)
