i have a crack on the bottom of the hub/axle assembly...opens/leaks more when i put a heavier load on it...does anybody have experience with welding this? i have thought about making a "collar" for it and double welding it...i am mostly worried about melting the axle seals...should i drain the resevoir oil ...or leave it in to absorb the heat then change it afterwards???

forgot to post....new holland L783
Hard to say without seeing it. Are you able to remove the axle and weld up the hub? i assume you are talking about an axle tube? To me, the hub is what the rim bolts to.
