(543) I had a little leak so I pulled the top hose off at where the thermostat is to fix it and lost a good amount of coolant, fixed the leak and put the hose back. Now I filled the radiater up again ut when I run the machine Im not sure if coolant is running through that hose I took off is getting hot and theres a light smoke.... What do I do to fix this?
Thanks Craig

Water pump?
I'd fill the cooling system with water/coolant. Start the machine and hold on to the top hose (the one about the thermostat housing) See if it warms up as the temperature climbs.
There should be a small by-pass hose connecting from under the thermostat housing to somehwere near the water pump? It should warm up as it's heating too.
If you are concerned about it not moving water, remove the thermostat and see if the hoses warm up when running. It won't get hot but it should warm up.
With the thermostat out, change it or at least test it in boiling water to ensure it opens up.

The upper hose does warm up as the temperature climbs and the small hose warms up too.... The gauge in the operators cab stays normal doesn't get real high but I was concerned if the coolant is flowing or if I had air in the system? I just don't want to make a bigger problem happen from not doing something right..........There was no problem before besides the small leak........

That sounds totally normal to me. With the radiator up so high, i think air pockets are pretty well eliminated after a short run.
I know what you mean, you don't want to damage anything.

when you had the little leak are you sure it was not from the water pump weep hole? Just wondering if the leak quit.

Man fix all the hydraulics now have a coolant leak, and it's not in an ideal spot at all........Ended up not being air in the system its leaking at the water flange gasket which sucks because its behind the water pump and the back housing of the water pump is one piece with the entire gear case.....Sucksssssssssss
