I'm changing from Propylene Glycol to Ethylene Glycol after chafing through a heater hose caused a leak. I've got the manual but the heater core appears to be below the drain location the manual calls for (near the oil filter). After fixing the hose with an inline barb and clamps I tried blowing through the hose to force the PG out of the heater core. ??Is there a valve that opens and closes with the heater switch in the cab?? I could not blow through the heater core with both sides disconnected from the machine. I thought I would be able to just "blow" it out. Am I going to have to run clean water through it a couple of times or??? I'm getting good heat so i don't think it is plugged. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Again, I want to completely flush the PG out and refill with EG. help would be appreciated. thanks >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2008 S220 no Air conditioner

I just flush it with water a few times, when i'm happy with it, i replace the coolant.
The main thing is to make sure its cold when you re-fill, thermal shock will kill a head. I fill it with water, get it to temperature and dump it. You need for the thermostat to open to circulate the water/coolant.

Personally, I would just drain it at the engine and then refill. PG and EG can mix and it will not harm anything. For what little is in the the heater core, I would not worry about.

thanks guys. I filled with water twice and just drained each time. You mentioned to get it to temperature. I think I did, I mean both hoses going to the radiator were warm. I'm not sure the thermostat was open but the cooling fan kicked in so I'm assuming it was circulating. The only unknown right now is that I did not add the "system amount" called for in the manual. I assume residual water in nooks and crannies within engine. Anyway I'm going to check for proper protection when I can find my antifreeze tester.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< BTW the last flush came out very much like water. I labeled it very large with ETHYLENE GLYCOL...... My luck some Einstein will see the label and say "Gee guess I better put the new fangled stuff in"...........
