Will turning the key to the left allow me to manually heat the glow plugs before starting? The information around key is worn off and I cannot get this thing to fire. I repaired the wire on the injector pump, drained the water out of fuel filter, installed new starter and glow plugs and it won't reward me.

Turning the key backwards is how you release the pressure in the auxiliary hydraulics. There should be a rocker switch near the key that activates the glow plugs. If the machine has the BOSS system (digital dash) the glow plugs are supposed to come on automatically when needed.

I see power to the plugs as it is cranking and I can't find the manual switch. Do you know what color wires go to the manual switch?

I have been told to turn the key on, wait for the countdown as indicated on the BOSS display, then crank. What should I be seeing on the display. I see the hourmeter with a triangle in front of it.

Dan, neighbor has a 853 w/boss system and the key must be turned backwards manually power the glow plugs. can you have someone hold the key over while you check for power at the plugs.

Well now I'm really curious......your friend's 853 has no pressure release for the auxiliaries??
The BOSS was 'supposed' to make the glow plugs come on only when they were needed, on time based on the temperature. I've never heard of a manual override for the glow plugs on the BOSS machines???

I don't see power to the glow plugs when the key is turned backwards, only when cranking. There is no pre-heat indication on the BOSS display when the key is turned on. My boss informed me that this machine is goeng to the dealer for a new muffler anyway, but I would liked to have figured it out.

The 93 753 I had with boss had auto glow plug timer that counted down in the hour meter window to zero then the hours came on the diplay to indicate time too crank the engine.
If you turn the key backwards for glow plugs I wonder if someone rewired the aux pressure release over to glow plug duty.
