Grew up driving a 642 around the trailer park my family used to run. Recently got the chance to get said 642 from the family friend for a steal. Its been sitting forever, they blew up the motor at one time and now its missing the motor at this point and some odd and ends but otherwise in great shape. Hydraulics are intact with quite a few new hoses from some previous attempts at repair. Slowly gathering what I need to get it going, already have a 1.6 on hand to toss in, had a line on an engine mount plate but it fell through. Hoping someone either has one laying around they would like to part ways with, or has one available they could get me overall measurements of it so I can fab one up. From my research a 742 uses the same plate, possibly a few others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, think i'm good on all the manuals so far I believe.

I got it home a while ago and got it cleaned up, power washes and all the old pine needles and oil off of everything. Stripped down a bunch of it and got it repainted to not look so rough around the edges. Just sourced the fan, spider gear and yoke for the motor I have along with 3/4 engine mounts. Still hunting for the main plate that goes behind the flywheel.

Everything is free, controls and foot pedals move an actuate all the correct levers. Everything was still sealed, both the gas tank and hydraulic tank. Hydraulic tank still has fluid in it.

Zeke, I believe I may have gotten the manual I have from you indirectly to begin with. Came across your previous forum post a little while ago when I started the project.

Great project! I too have an old 6xx but a 643 and by this obviously playing with a diesel engine. The machine kanda' worked when I got it but seems to have some issue with the (lifting) hydralics. Mine was super dirty in the engine compartment so I preassure washed the whole thing and scoped out tonns of dirt from the back. Took out the hydralic and diesel tanks and cleaned em' inside out. Changed all fluids and filters. Someone, for some reason, put the small expansion tank for the coolant fluid outside the skid and on the back of the cabin (strange place as it popped off everytime you tilted the cab back!) so I had to order a new small tank and improvise a new setting for it in the engine bay where it's supposed to be. Yes, I also had to change to new gas shockers (or whatever they're called in English) to the cab as the old ones were out of gas and the cab was extremely heavy to raise. New battery cables, a bunch of new houses and repainting on it's way. Put new glow plugs and injectors to the engine but when I kinda' in a rush tried to start her up for the first time this weekend she didn't want to run. The engins turns but no ignition. I suspect I need to bleed her more thoroughly and also check why the glow plugs doesn't seem to heat up. Lots of hours but - I love the work! Go go go!
