I just drained most of my hydraulic flid since it had water in it. I bought a new filter and now I want to refill the system. I am told it takes about 9 gallons of 20w50 and this can get expensive. Any ideas? I have a 1995 743

Bobcat hydraulic/ hydrostatic fluid is the only fluid technically recommand per bobcat. My work sell 2 1/2 gallon jugs for $30, the absolute cheapest we can. For years bobcat said 10w30 is ok, they have since said not to. That said, nothing about your machine has changed so I don't see why 10w30 still wouldn't be fine. I know farms that all they run is 10w30 and they havn't had any problems.

7LBSSMALLIE,
Any chance of getting the highlights of the flush procedure? There must be something better than drain tank, refill, operate, repeat until flushed.
Thanks!

Sams Club sells tractor hydraulic and transmission fluid in 5 gallon container. Also a case of gallons of Rotella T for a diesel engine.

Cheapest and best I/O is at SAMs Club from what I have found. I have an account with the wholesales but they are always higher. Bobcat doesn't make their own oil and just gets it from refineries like everyone else so don't get stuck on the Brand name thing. I hate it when these manuf. try and convince us that we have to only buy their oil or their fuel to keep our machines running right! Am I missing something here or are they just ripping us off because we're dumb? SAMs Club! It comes in 5 gal pails. I think Costco used to have it in 55gal drums but I don't see it any more?

The thing with bobcat hydraulic fluid, bobcat will not release any spec to what the stuff is. The parts guy heard at school that off the record it is close to a 20 weight. When customers ask, we always say if they're not going to run bobcat oil to look for a hydraulic/hydrostaic.

well, mine is a 643 and the manual says its ok haha, must be before they tried to monopolize with their own parts haha

Costco sells AW46 hydraulic oil in 5 gal. buckets and also 15W-40 motor oil in a case of 3ea 1 gal jugs. Both are about $40 plus or minus $5. So the 15W-40 is more expensive but it works in the engine too and the 1 gal jugs are easier to deal with unless you have a pump. I'm still on the fence about wich to use. Everybody on the forum has there own opinion.
