Hi everyone,
I’m new to the forum and recently acquired an older Case TV380 from a longtime friend. While I’m not familiar with these machines specifically, I have a strong technical background, including over 35 years as a Master Electrician and extensive experience troubleshooting industrial equipment.
From what I’ve been told, he was operating a front-mounted mower last week when the hydraulics suddenly stopped working. The mower quit, and at the same time the machine lost its ability to drive. He has dealt with several issues over the years, including sensors, alternator, and starter problems, and ultimately decided to replace it with a new machine. He made me an offer I couldn’t pass up, so now I’m taking on the challenge.
I’ve located a service manual for the TV380, but at this point I don’t know the exact year of the machine or whether the manual I found covers it. I’ll have more information once I pick it up later this week.
My initial thought is to start by investigating the safety and control circuits that enable hydraulic operation. Before I go too far down that path, can anyone tell me what conditions must be satisfied before the machine will allow hydraulic and drive functions to operate? For example, seat switch, lap bar switch, parking brake circuit, controller inputs, etc.
Or am I heading in the wrong direction and should be looking elsewhere first?
Any advice, troubleshooting tips, or common failure points on these machines would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
