Hi everyone, I'm new here as you can see!!! I just picked up a D100 backhoe and I need to get it to work on my S185. Has anyone on here done this combo before?? Just looking for some ideas here as far as the support arms go. I don't want to have a whole lot of extra crap hanging off my machine, especially if it's going to stick out past the tires. Do the supports need to strictly lock the 'tilt' back in place, or do they need to be made so they actually hold the booms all the way down on the stops also??? Thanks for any help here!!!

Hi, if you do a search for backhoes here there are quite a few of us who have the case 100. there are photos under the media heading of a couple different ways to attach it to the machine. I put mine on a 632 bobcat and now its on a new holland. the supports do lock the tilt but since they are mounted higher they have more mechanical advantage also as far as making the set up rigid. they do not have to hold the booms down just go back to the solid frame of the machine. you could go all out and make it fit bobcat mount also. look at a few of the photos, it depends on what you want and how it will fit on your machine.

Well, I did some looking around...found a couple pics but nothing very detailed. I think I have a good idea of how I'm going to do it...I want to relocated the brackets that are used with the case skidsteer so I can use the same locking system they use, as I think it will be the easiest, quickest, and least intrusive on my machine. I will post some pics if it works out the way I think it will and hopefully it will help out some other guys in the future!!!

The factory S185 setup both holds the boom up a few inches and steadys the tilt cylinders.
The reason for lifting the boom is to give more gound clearance under the stabilizers, so the machine/hoe can clear a 6" high obstical. With the case style fold down stabs instead of the vertical stabs this may be less of a issue.
Please do post several hi res photos of your instalation and a discripion of how you went about it all.

Well, here's what I'm thinking right now...as you can see in the pictures, the case mounts interfere with my locking levers and only let them close about 1/3 of the way, so they have to move or come off regardless. I'm thinking if I can use the case mounting rods and put a small bracket on each side of the cross tube on my bobcat, that will stabalize my tilt cylinders which is the main idea here. Also, with fastening to the boom rather than the frame of the machine, this will allow me to raise the hoe up for as much ground clearance as I need when I'm moving around. When I get set, simply let the booms all the way down on the stops and I'm ready to dig!!! Does anyone see any problems with this plan???

That would be much better then haveing no top link. but will likely be less solid and shake the boom around sideways when swinging compare to having a frame mount. Of course the stabs will help some.
