Case 1845c- boom won't lower

I am working on a case 1845c skid steer. The boom raises just fine but won't lower. The only way I can figure out to lower the boom is to dump the bucket at the same time which cases the boom to drop sharply for a foot or so. Anyone know where in the hydraulic system I should begin investigating? Thanks

Check your auxillary pedal. It is probrably partly engaged and stuck in that position or the centering spring on the spool or the spring cap on the later syyle valve is rotted away and not keeping the spool centered and keeping the auxillary system partly engaged.

It just started working after I fiddled with it a bit. I think it must have been the aux. pedal because it was after I used the aux. that it started working again. Good call. Thanks goose
