Was wondering if there were any tricks or ideas on how to remove the axles on a case 1830? Looks like you have to use the 2 3 inch access holes on each side of the housing for the chains and sprockets. I can barely get my hand inside let alone try and remove a cotter pin and nut. Would appreciate any ideas or help!!

Not familiar with it, but here's a site that has Case parts manuals, which can be helpful in seeing how things go. Is there a top cover that can come off and give better access? It might mean more work pulling stuff, but if it makes the job easier it might be worth it.

Thanks for the link...that showed a cover over the chain box...my manual does not describe that very well. Thanks again for the help!

Correct, the chain case covers need to be removed. Raise the bucket up about head high and find a way to lock it on place. Gives you a lot more room to work.

I’m struggling with the drive shaft off the cluster sprocket. Not sure how this happened but the shaft has moved inward.... when looking in the engine compartment I see that the brake drum has moved and the brakes are exposed.... thought it would be an easy fix. Thought I could just push the shaft back to where it should be.then replace the bearing and the brakes..... I have removed the brake drum, removed the set screws on the hub, but just can’t get this shaft to realign and be able to then push it outward...anyone work on this area and can share how to remove the hub I would appreciate. This is an older model case 1830 I believe 1978
