Hi Everyone, new to site, recently purchase a 2011 S185 for my own property maintance and some light contracting if so needed in the area. Going to purchase over the tire tracks for rotary mowing/cutting an over grown hillside and was looking for your expert opinions on Bobcat brand vs the others out their. Also looking for a good all round bush hog,,,,,any info is appreciated.

Can't comment on Bobcat OTT tracks but stay away from the Brushcat. Far too light for my liking. If all you are cutting is grass and shrubs you'll be fine but if you want to cut brush, small trees etc, you will be fixing things.

Do a bit of searching on this forum for my comments comparing an Ammbusher mower brush cutter with a Bradco. Bradco built much stouter, but blades break easily. Solution is to put on John Deere blades. I mow lots of oak, and can do 3" stuff, occasionally some older 4" (gets more brittle as the years pass by). The newer growth (less than 30 years) is pretty lively and rubbery, tougher cutting but it can be done without tearing up a Bradco. I can easily mulch up limbs from pine and juniper if the stuff is wrist-size or smaller. With some of the sawyers, we've had to do anatomy training: "grab your wrist". "No, that's your thigh, try again...." :) ---Bobbie G.
