Help Support Skidsteer:

I am running down to Bobcat now to get the fitting... Its only 15 bucks! But they want $947 for the gear pump ( insert trombone flattening out sound here- wah wahhhhhh) even if I have to JB weld it and pull off a few jobs just replace the pump and fitting in all I will do it.
If you know the Bobcat part number for the pump put it in the search box of this site. http://highwayandheavyparts.com/
Should be about 1/3 of the dealer price.

If you go the JB weld way clean it good and use something to clean it good like acetone to get the oil out and I would use the old fitting for this that way you have the new one when you buy the pump

If it is indeed cracked, you are wasting your itm with JB weld, there is serious pressure here and it will not hold up.
It's worth a shot, if you have a friend with a TIG welder for aluminium, drill the ends/gouge out the crack and weld it up. It's worth a try, you may save buying a new pump.

and I don't know why the pump number that Bobcat gave me is completely wrong????

They had the number close, just lost one 6.
so just an update I just got washed up and got home the new fitting an o-ring was bigger than the one that was on it. It was about a 16th of an inch larger. The existing one was an inch in a quarter. .... it did not work it is still leaking.Next step is to try to have fun take tomorrow morning and then locked tight or some form of sealant like JB Weld. Wish me luck I'm going to need it.

As a last effort, teflon tape on the threads may even help seal it.

Ok there was alot of gramatical errors in that last post. The NUT ob the fitting was just a hair bigger not the threads. But there is still a leak. Im going to try and snug it up a dif way and see if it helps. The teflon idea is next and then a form of sealant but I hope its not that bad. has anyone ever JB Weld one of these with any success I've got a feeling its not going to work if there is some type of damage to that aluminum case. Do these warp from overtime and cause a leak? how much of a pain is it to just put a new housing on the pump with a new seal?

I guess it is possible, i think the main cause of failure if it was a crack is a combination of the position of the output hole, the thickness of the metal, the torque of the fitting.
ORB fittings are generally pretty good at sealing, even of the Oring isn't quite right, it still seals for a time.
Hopefully your other sealing options work.

Ok guys... we used permatex on the gear pump fitting and let it cure for a cpl days and so far its holding up. pray it doesnt go out for a while as im behind on bills already!! A week down and I wish I had used this stuff on day 1. anyway the sealant has a 72 hr cure time and was like 5-6 bux!! If you have the same issue try this permatex stuff and try not to pull your hair out over it.
