Hey all my fiancée has a 70’s bobcat m610 I have the service manual to see how the drive belt needs replaced but my problem is I CAN Not get the c clips off! How do I get them buggers out?? Our bobcat has the hydraulic roto thing going into the engine sheath that you have to pull the front 1/2 off to replace. Everything else is done split the shaft and slid the belt on over big sheath under seat just can’t figure out how to get the c clips off with the pliers or maybe I’m not doing it right. (Guess I should have paid more attention to this mechanical stuff as he works so much he doesn’t have the time to do it and I am well... challenged I guess lol).

I don't have a parts book that covers that, but most C clips come off with a small flat screwdriver prying the closed side away so the open end springs enough to go over the shaft. They are well known for their ability to fly across the shop and never be seen again, so a plan to catch it in a shop rag or grab it with some needle nose pliers when it's halfway off can save a lot of frustration.
E clips are similar, but don't have the curvature so they don't store the energy to fly as far, and snaprings are a whole different story.
Here are some images for C clips, you might find the one you're dealing with and see if there are any removal tips, as most are from vendor sites.

Thanks Flyerdan! I think I actually figured out my issue I was pinching and then trying to pull the bugger out not pulling to the side I should have to get it out of the groove! ????????‍♀️ Well out I go to try to get this bad boy back to moving again lol!!

Here is an older post: Broken……..very briefly……first I recommend a shop/service manual but here is the procedure. Remove the hydro line from sheave, pry open 'jackshaft' sheave and drop a 5/8 or 11/16 socket into the sheave to hold it open, work the slack in the belt to the variable speed/crankshaft sheave and squeeze the two sheave halves together exposing 3/4 to an inch of the 'roto-swivel' assembly. Next slide the cap (washer looking) back onto the shaft and that will expose an external lock ring on the shaft that fit inside the cap. Once you have that all off refer to the thread started by bobcat88.
