I have a 743 Kubota, for 15 yrs. It has been an excellent machine for me. I use it at home so not a lot of heavy work load on it. A few years back I lent it to a friend and the main seal went out on him. I pulled the engine and replaced the seal. The replacement didnot match the one I was replaceing it with but the dealer said that Bobcat had changed the part and the new one is correct. It did not work so I replaced it again, it didnot work (same type seal). I gave it to the dealer and he replaced it twice, it does not work. I have pulled the engine again and hope not to get into the hyd. pump (shaft?). The seal fits loose inside and out and the dealer actually siliconed the second one he put in! The seal has a couple #'s stamped on the inside of the cuped portion which are: CR-10 and CR 534282. Does anyone have a similar experiance or know about the seals? I'm hoping not to have to pull the pump. ptm

I did a cross referance on the number you provided see it here. http://www.skfextranet.com/Catalogs/457010/sealdetail.asp?s=534282
If the measurements are right you should be able to get one at any bearing supplier.
It shouldn't be loose in the housing... if its loose, it will not seal. I installed one on the weekend and it was tight as. Silicone will not hold, you have about 120PSI of charge pressure behind it trying to push it out of the housing, which the snap ring holds it back.. How does the shaft look? is it leaking around there at all? you may need to install a speedy sleeve for the seal to run on.
If its indeed leaking out past the housing, i personally would use loctite to hold it in, not silicone, silicone is just too soft.
Just my 2c

I replaced the main pump seal on my 763 last year and had similar problem. The seal from the dealer that supposedly was right for my serial # was in fact wrong. The seal was just a little too small outside diameter. After talking to a seal retailer I found it was a dealer only item. I also found out as Tazza mentioned it has to be a high pressure seal and not just one that fits. After looking at the dealers part breakdown we found it was a different pump than it was supposed to be for my serial #. I would start in that direction first if it was me.

I will do that. Thanks.
