The frustration continues. Why does Bobcat insist on making custom-made parts and overcharging for them? I reversed the ring gear on my 863 to get it running. Now I want to replace it. For any other machine the price range is between 30-70 dollars. For some reason Bobcat wants 220 dollars for this thing. Has anyone found a cheaper source?

Have you checked with any Deutz parts dealers to see if they can get a new one. Here are a couple of links to parts suppliers.

Yes , go to Deutz. Deutz has to make a profit when they sell to Bobcat, they Bobcat marks it up again. My 853 water pump was $100 less at Isuzu then Bobcat.

Deutz does not make that ring gear. I have tried several sources, and none of their parts match the Bobcat ring gear. The trick is to know where they bought this stuff from. My experience has been that while Bobcat can get just about anything, they always mark it up to the extreme. Hopefully this does not get to me brazing and filing the old part.
