Hi folks! This is my very first question of which I'm sure I will have many in the future. I recently bought a '99 Bobcat 853 at auction. I knew that I'd have some issues with it sooner or later but I'm already confronted with one right out of the gate. After running the unit for a couple hours the Boss unit started screaming at me indicating that I was running out of fuel despite having a full tank. I've read a few posts about the possibility of the tank float wiring and/ or sending unit possibly having a short. The fix sounds very time consuming as it appears that I'd need to remove the motor to get to the tank and wiring. My question is 1) Is there an easier way to get to this wiring? 2) Is there a way of bypassing (temporarily) the relay that shuts the engine down due to it's belief that it is running out of fuel? Any help would be most appreciated!! Rob

Wait till you find out where the tank is!!!! Have you ever heard the saying" "Work on something like you're going to have to repair it"?? Well the friendly folks at Bobcat couldn't have cared less about working on it!!!! All they do is "design" them. Well, sort of!

Others have replaced the sender in place, but it was tight, you can't bend it or it will be damaged.
Does that gauge show full or do you know it's full because you filled it?

Thanks for the response! Yes, I filled it so I know it's not a fuel issue. It runs great. Based on the code I'm getting on the display, it's some kind of wiring issue.... "Fuel 3".

What happens if you remove the plug from the sender, does the code change? if not, you may have a wiring issue, short or open. I'd hate for you to replace the sender to still have the same code.

Haven't tried that yet. I'll give it a go and report back. Thanks!!
