Bobcat 773 electrical problem

I have a '98 773 bobcat. I haven't used it for a while. I can only get it to start by jump starting it, it won't produce enuff voltage to unlock the BCIS. Installed new battery, no change. Tried a new alternator, no change. Any and all ideas would be appreciated!

Really sounds like a grounding problem so I start by cleaning the battery cables on both ends. Also find and clean the several other ground wires. Mine wouldn't start one time after sitting and it was corrosion between the starter motor and its mounting. It just wasn't getting the juice.

Cleaned battery cables and every ground wire I could find, no change.

Where was it parked? Could it be that you have had some vermin snacking on your wiring?
BTW - is this a BOSS-equipped machine?

It won't start with a new battery but will by jump starting? If you are jumping it by putting the postive clamp on the starter, I would say you have a bad postive battery cable. I had a T140 do that this summer and my dad's old work van did the same thing a few years ago.

Jumping it thru the battery. Appearantly there is a bad spot in wiring somewhere, once started it runs fine but wont build up enuff voltage for the BCIS to unlock. The voltage guage does not get above 10 volts.

seen this before bad cables, ohm check good but will not carry a load. chop the cables look for green stuff , if found therein lies the issue,

Spent all day chasing wires and trying to find a bad one. Nothing! took out the new battery, took the old one off the charger, put it in and everything worked fine! Put new battery on charger and it wont even take a charge, it even caused the breaker to pop. 3 days wasted because of a 'new' battery that was bad! never been so pissed off about getting something fixed!!

I, for one, am glad you found the problem and you didn't spend a bunch of money needlessly. Take the battery back and get your money. Too bad about the 3 days.... Beer fixes all!!! LoL.

Test me I have been there checking out no starts. A battery with a bad cell will read good voltage with no load, flat line under load and pop right back. It took me a couple of time before I learned my leason.

I like that my local parts store load tests even new batteries to make sure they test at or above the CCA listed on the battery
