I would like to know if there is a safety shut down that cuts the fuel off. Mine started running out of fuel. It will run 15-30 minutes and will shut down. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Larry
It may be the pick-up tube plugged. Check and see if the primer bulb collapses when the engine loses power. If it is collapsing you'll need to clean/replace the screen on the bottom of the pick up tube. Access is by raising the cab, fuel lines are on top of the fuel tank, between the engine and the pump set.Does it give any error codes?
It could be a crack in your fuel pickup tube.
When it shuts down next, leave the ignition on, get out and look at the engine. If its a non direct injection one, the fuel shut off solenoid can be seen holding an arm back below the injector pump. If its still pulling it back, you have air getting in causing it to shut down. If its released you may have a bad coil or its not adjusted correctly.
Just a few things to look at.
Thanks for your replies. It's not a Boss system, so I don't think there are no codes. The fuel rack solenoid is still open. The primer bulb will not work unless the tank is full. I let it idle for about 30 minutes and it didn't cut off, so I'm guessing when the fuel gets below where the the tube can reach it runs out of fuel and shuts down. So if I lift the cage the fuel tank will be exposed, so I can get to the top of the tank? If there is a website thats shows this I would appreciate it . Thanks again for all the help. Do I have to raise or remove the Rops to get to the fuel tank to check the place where the fuel pick-up. I hope I don't have to pull the tank / engine. Is the tank exposed under the seat? I don't want to sound dumb, I'm looking for the easiest way to get to the top of the tank without pulling the engine or removing the drivers cage. Just wanted to say ,I went ahead and lifted the cab up and I can see the 2 fuel lines that go into the tank. Untill you try something it's hard to know for sure , how to do it. It's almost dark so I will try to check out the line going to the fuel bulb first tommorow. Thanks again for everyones help. LarryThanks again for all the help. Larry, first off, thanks for all the feedback to the forum. Way too many guys only register to ask a question when they get into trouble. Several people will jump in trying to help, and the original question-asker will never acknowledge the efforts of others, and never post what went wrong and what the fix was. So you're doing it right! --- Now to the point, I have very little experience with Bobcats. I have a 751 and a T180. Both of them have return lines from the injectors that I believe return bypassed fuel back into the tank. Sounds like that's what you have there, but again, I'm just guessing. Another piece of info: Pulling out the grommet from the top of the tank with the fuel pickup line is hard to do because of access. I don't quite have my story straight here, but I think some of the grommets are plastic and tend to swell over time, so replacing a used one is really tough since it is too large to fit back in the tank easily. Also, if you pull the pickup grommet, I think the wise advice is to replace the pickup tube inside the tank with a new one as they have a tendency to crack and sometimes break off. As far as parts go, I'd just work through the nearest Bobcat dealer. I haven't heard of any good on-line Bobcat parts sources.Hey, I have another question. Where does the other line go that is in front of the one for the primer bulb on the fuel tank? I pulled the line coming from the primer bulb and it was broke off @ the gromet. I didn't want to remove it unless it goes some where imporant, because it harder to get to. But I thought since I'm already in there I would replace both. can you buy these parts on line and where. Hey, I had a new hose left from repairs on my ATV and I used it with the existing gromet, which is rubber and it looked good and fit right back in the hole.
