I got a part number 6512027 (bushing) for the steering on my 743 and it was made out of thin plastic and was $9.69, I was a little upset. I also got part number 6558736 and it was made out of metal (and alot more) for $11.06. The question is this bushing suppose to be plastic? Seems like it would wear out in three days. Thought it would be made out of metal or at least a price of $1.50 or something but not almost $10

Some part's you have to buy from bobcat and they don't kiss you first get used to it
These parts came directly from the Bobcat dealer. One package ($11.00 bushing) had the Bobcat trademark and it said Genuine Bobcat parts. The other plastic bushing was in a small plastic bag with nothing on it. I told the dealer I could have made one of these. You would think it would have some kind of markings on the bag, and better yet be made of metal for that price.

I assume the plastic bushings you are talking about are the ones that sit in the aluminium housing for the steering levers? Piece of plastic with a split along it and a shoulder?
Been there, bought them before. I found that if they aren't too worn (never seen any worn out) you can grind the groove out a little so it will close up on the steering lever rod and wrap teflon tape around it to take up any wear, push it into place and grease up. Dodgy way to do it, but it actually holds up very well, more so than you'd expect.
