I have not had to do a fuel filter on a 743 in a very long time , and thats good , but do remember 3166 is a good number , I don't remember any gasket , just o rings , quad rings and a flat rubber washer , maybe either do away with the gasket you mention or punch some holes thru it -------I know I hate the glass bowl set up , it is a leaker , a breaker and messy to change the filter -----I have converted many of them to a spin on filter either by changing the filter head or using a adaptor that screws into the OEM filter head and a spin on spins onto it , it's a Perkins sytle filter adaptor , I have seen them on EBay , I use to buy them from Reliable Industries
