Bobcat 742 valve stem seals

Does anyone know an auto parts cross reference for the valve stem seals on the 1.6l ford engine. I ordered a set from a 72 pinto and they do not fit the guide. The original ones are in decent shape, but they are larger than the guide and ride up on the valves, which I have never seen before. Thanks,

A set for a 72 pinto with a 1.6 should fit. Those seals should fit all of the variations of that engine.
Is it possible you where given the wrong part number at the parts store? I use Rockauto.com for a quick check on part numbers.
The seal you are describing sounds like a "umbrella" seal. A very basic and cheap valve stem seal. The original ones where of the positive type. Much better design.
Do you have an automotive machine shop around? They usually have valve seals by the bucket loads. If all else fails, get a valve guide OD size and valve stem size and hit them up.

I remember reading a post that said the bobcat version had different size valves then the pinto. I actually did order them from rockauto.com, I checked the Felton part number from a different source as well. I have never scene an umbrella seal that float before. What I did do is go to alexsparts.com, ordered a set of Viton umbrella seals using 5/16" valves and 0.50" guide od. Hopefully this will fix me up.
