After replacing all of those parts the bobcat ran better then before, but then after some time the same problems came back. There were suggestions on here to adjust the points in the distributor, but with my lack of experience on adjusting points and the common knowledge that points will need to be readjusted every so often I wanted to search for a long term solution. Then I came across using electronic ignition by PerTronix to replace the points in my bobcat 742. Ever since I tossed the points and ran with electronic ignition my bobcat has been running smooth, starts quickly, and has more power throughout the rpm range. I provided the details below the parts I used. I hope this helps other people!
