I just bought a bobcat 731 the engine was missing real bad I had the injectors built changed the fuel filter and lines it sounds good starts right up when cold the problem I'm having now is when I try to dig with it I'll pull into a dirt pile it starts to spin the tires then it stops and the handles chatter if I let off one side and push the other it spins that side just fine what I'm wondering is it a pump problem or is the machine just too small? I have also changed the brass filter and main filter

What about if you push in slower? You may just be over loading it stalling the engine.

It doesn't seem to matter the engine really doesn't bog down to the point that it would stop pulling. You can tell that it's putting a load on the engine and it puffs a little black smoke it kinda acts more like it's not keeping fluid psi up when it's loaded

Check to see if your aux hydro is stuck on that could be a power loss

What happens if you push into a pile of dirt? move up to it and push with one side, it should get the wheels spinning, do the same on the other. Just seeing how the power to the wheels is.
I had one of these machines, it was excellent, it did a lot of work before it got moved to another home.
The biggest issue this machine had was the bronze filter, but you said you replaced it already. It may be an idea to take it out and check it again to be sure

I checked the aux hydraulics it doesn't help either way . If I pull into the dirt pile it spins one Side by its self if push the other side while one is spinning they both stop and kinda make a chatter noise I pulled the filter back out I didn't see any trash this time i did clean it to see if it helped but it didn't. Did the 731 you had spin both sides?

Does it have a bleeder valve and is it closed and not leaking?

Mine would get both wheels spinning, but not at full speed, i could push it some and they would spin, but it didn't have the power to to get all 4 going fast.
I'd like to say it is just the nature of the machine, the shaking is the pump loading down.
It depends on how far you want to go, you could tidy up the pump if you had the motivation to pull it down and flatten the wear plates, this is the biggest cause of lower power. As they wear you get lower power and you can feel vibrations through the sticks.
