Bobcat 642 port block 40 micron bronze filter chagne tool

Greetings folks, I am wanting to change the 40 micron bronze filter in the port block of my Bobcat 642. I read that I need a bobcat tool MEL 1177. From past experience I know at times the special tools required to make repairs can be substituted with tools we already have in the tool box. Can any of you guys tell me if I need this tool or will my left handed monkey wrench do the job ? ? ? Should the filter be changed or can it simply be properly cleaned and reinstalled ? Sorry, the left handed monkey wrench won't do it, you need the right handed one
Lift the cab and ensure you have a square block on the hydraulic pump, this is where the filter is hidden. Newer machines don't have the filter.
No special tools are needed really. There should be three hoses on the left side looking from the bucket. You want the middle fitting. Remove the hose and fitting behind it. You may need pliers to get hold of the filter and pull it out. I used diesel and compressed air to clean the one in my 731. Worked well for me.
