The best way I can describe what is happening is when I go up an incline the engine boggs. I can't tell if it is starving for gas of getting too much. I understand there is some sort of governor pump on the back side that is connected to the carb with linkage. Could that be my problem? Usually when it does it is corrects it's self in about 15 min of running, but yesterday it gave me grief for a few hours, and finally straightened out and ran like it should. Today I used it again with no issues at all. What could possibly be going on and what adjustments could I try? I am perplexed This is the ford industrial engine.... Thanks Steve

It should have a Hoof Governor. Look it up and see the procedure for filling/ checking oil level. Do not let it run dry. Your description sounds close to being out of oil. They can be rebuilt or resealed. Here is a new one:https://www.bobcatparts.com/engine-components/hoof-governor-6599757.html When you see the price you will appreciate the value of 6 ounces of oil.

I have a service manual but do not see any instructions for filling one or the correct type of oil to use. Does anyone have these instructions. I never knew it had oil in there. Steve

I checked the oil level this morning and oil came out so I am going to assume the level is ok. It has to be an adjustment Steve

Look for Hoof on the web. That is where the information is. There are three plugs on the back, top to bottom: Fill, Check and Drain. Open the top 2. Add/drain until oil is at the second plug. Linkage adjustment procedure is on the website. Good luck. -Dick
