So I plowed with my 610 for maybe 6hrs today, ran BEAUTIFUL, I got off it for 30 mins and left it outside, my buddy then went to clean up some areas, turned her on, didnt let her warm up, and as he was moving it we heard a "pop" now exhaust gas is coming out one of the cylinders. Is this a common issue, Is it hard to swap a head gasket? I may rebuild the whole engine if its not too involved. any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

If it is just a Wisconsin engine you have a simple flathead engine. However, they are aluminum and can crack. No need to rebuild if it was running well. Just remove the shrouding and replace the head gasket, if it is actually leaking there.

Yeah its the wisconsin v4 gas job. I looked at the manual and it didn't look bad at all, engine runs great, couple puffs of smoke here and there, I'm sure she would definately wake right up with a rebuild, but I think I'm going to try and just slap a new head gasket on there and see how she responds. Does anyone have an idea of why the head gasket would go like that? Just last week I compression tested her to 95 across the board, I'm positive its a leak right at the gasket, I can feel it with my hand.

i thought i had a bad head in my old 600 v4, but after replacing two gaskets i found out i had a small pin hole in the head close to the spark plug. i had an old motor in storage so i just swaped out one head and it worked fine. i always have to do things 2 or 3 times befor i get it rite. jf
