My 542B won't start AGAIN! 1st time - The engine would crank, but wouldn't start. Fuel Solenoid - Working Fuel Pump - Was probably working, but I replaced it with an electric fuel pump. Fuel Pickup Tube - Verified connected. Spark plugs - Had Fire, but were Replaced Oil - Replaced because it was due. Oil Filter - Replaced because it was due. Battery - Charged, but wouldn't last long. Took it in for a check at the AutoZone and it tested as not holding a charge. Solution - Replaced the battery even though it had enough to crank the engine, it wasn't strong enough to create the required engine compression. 2nd time - Symptoms - The engine will crank, but won't start AGAIN. It ran fine for several times, then the engine started missing. I parked it and it hasn't started since. Troubleshooting _ Checked all of the above in the 1st time, and verified all good. Performed the measurement checks described in the service manual: https://www.pittauto.com/customer/piauel/pdf/ford/194-294%20VSG411.pdf - page 02-11 and all were within parameters. ANY FREAKING IDEAS??? Thanks for any assistance, Orchitis

I'd start by making sure you have a spark, pull a plug or pull a lead and install an old plug to see if you are getting a blue spark. If you are getting spark, you can try giving it a small squirt of ether to see if it pops, if it does, it sounds like a fuel issue, the jets could be plugged up in the carb.
