this travel valve is leaking somewhat & has little more play in the valve then I would like to see. Is this valve fairly easy to rebuild? or, am I into some hocus pocus to "get 'er done"??

Depends on where the play is I guess. I have heard of spools being re-chromed and ground back, if its the linkage point, I have drilled them out and used larger pins.

Hey bro, I removed the deck plates in hopes of it being a worn out linkage; it would be cheaper & easier. However, it is definitely loose in the valve itself. I was hoping to find out that it is adjustable like the pilot controls are of larger types of excavators typically are. I suppose I need a parts break down from the dealer.
