Hi 94 753 When I leave the unit outside I plug it in before I start it. When I go to start it, the glow plugs wont cycle because it must sence the engine is warm. I know the glow plugs work becasue if I dont plug it in, they come on for 15 seconds. Even though it is plugged in, it cranks slow without the glow plugs on. In the past, it has cranked faster when it was colder and not plugged in, the but glow plugs cycled. Is it possible to somehow override and force the glow plugs on? I know it will help spin the engine over faster. It always starts, but just seems to crank longer without glow plugs. Thanks

i have a older 825 and i have a key switch i installed in mine , what i did was run my glow plug wire to a push botton switch on one side of the terminal and another wire on the other terminal to the key switch on the acc side terminal . so i turn the key on acc and hold it the pushbutton for 30-45 seconds for the preheat , last week it was left outside and it was 19 degrees out sid eit took two turns on the glow plugs but it fired right up .
hope this helps you out

Having the p[lugs on won't make it spin faster, they use power from the battery so if anything it should slow it some.
You are right, it will sense that the engine is already warm and doesn't need glowing.
Have you checked that your battery is still good? it could be why it isn't cranking as fast. I'd have it tested or at least add a boosting battery and see if it spins faster.
