Block Heater on 751

Hey guys! I'm checking (I tried the search but came up with nothing??) to see if this is a standard thing (it is obviously a diesel, and my boss has a 773 which is a diesel as well)- neither of us can see one on our machines??? Are they tucked in somewhere from the factory and are "hidden" if they haven't been used yet? Did you have to order it with it when new (both of ours have had previous owners)? If they didn't come with one, and if they did they should be VERY EASY to see- what do you guys recommend putting on; and where do you recommend putting them (ie, it one of the freeze plugs facing you when you open the door, or??)?? Thanks for some guidance to a newby!!! Also, while on the topic, what are most using for antifreeze? Do you have to use what is factory, or can a person use the ethynol (sp??) type? Will it hurt to use regular green AF if the other is flushed out?? Thanks again!!!
 
I don't think they ever came that way from the factory.
What is your 751 running? a deutz? i know the 773 should be a kubota, block heaters are easily bought the the kubota engine.
Easy to use, plug in the night before you want to use it, then start it the next morning. I don't think they heat up super fast, thats why you leave it to warm up.

Thanks for the quick reply! Mine is a Kubota. I just figured that the diesels had them from the factory. Are they installed in a freeze plug that faces you when you are at the door looking at the motor? Any clue on the AF question?

I'm from Australia, so it never gets THAT cold, never below freezing. I just use corrosion inhibitor.
There is no reason you can't sue a different AF, as long as you get all the old stuff out. Some types don't play well with others, give it a god fluch and ensure it will handle the cold temperatures you experience and i see no reason why you would have an issue.

The block heater was not standard equipment on 700 series with Kobota engine. They are easy to install, I believe that it replaces a freeze plug in the head, on the flywheel side. Pretty affordable to buy from dealer, and comes with instructions for proper location. As for the coolant, I would suggest either PG or EG type, but don't mix the 2.

My 751C with the Peugeot engine uses propylene glycol (pink). I don't remember seeing anything at the Bobcat dealer except the PG. T180 with Kubota engine uses same stuff. --- I added a block heater to my T180. Very simple. $40 bucks if I remember correctly. Left side of the engine, knock out freeze plug, insert heater, tighten up the widget and yer done. Pretty good instructions, but I called the Bobcat mechanic for advice before I started. :-) ---RC

Guys, thanks a million for the help!!! Going to see if I can get one picked up in the next few days and get the AF changed out!!!!
