Have a 1987 NH L555 and needs batteries. It has two of them and I was thinking maybe I could use one instead of two. They use the I think D4 battery. You think I could use one? They are real big, about two feet by 14 inches wide. I have the 52 hp perkins. I was talking to a skid mechanic and he said he hadn't seen a skid with two batteries, so the question, thanks Randy

My L555 has 2 batteries one on each side. They at 10" x 20" approx. I would just make sure you have the cold cranking amps. I know in the winter if my batteries are not fully charged (topped off with my battery charger), I can crank for about 10 seconds before it starts to crank slower and die.
