Can anyone tell me the differences between the Bobcat backhoe models available around the late 80's that may fit my 1988 843? I believe the models are 905B, 907, T906, 909, 911 and 913? Which ones fit my machine? What are the differences? Thanks.

The one you want for your 843 is the 911. The 809 and 907 were for the 700 series machines and the 913 is for the 900 series machines. I am not 100% sure but the 909 might fir the 843, it is lighter and has a 9 foot digging depth versus 11 for the 911. There is also the newer 811 model that should fit your 843 as long as you can find the hook style frame mounts.

Sorry, my previous post should say the 909 and 907 are for 700 series machines...

I Have a Early 843 and thought a 909 would fit but it does not so I can only assume the only unit that fits is the 911.

I'm in your same boat, I bought a 909 backhoe because I thought it would fit my 843 and it's too short to get to the balls. I don't have the option of finding a 911, so I'll have to re-weld those brackets.... Will you please measure your 911 in the places I'm showing in the photo (on my 909)?

I need the height from the *top* of the quickattach bracket to the *bottom* of the arm (in the photo it is about 8")

Also the length of the arm to the ball - from the face that faces the bobcat (that extends up from the quickattach), it'd be like the armpit of the ball - to the end of the ball. In the photo it's 15"

Thanks for the help! just redid all the hoses and cylinder seals and I'm bummed that it doesn't fit... doh!

I copied the 909 setup in mounting a Davis D-100 to my 742B. I think pictures of that project are in the archives.

If you lift the loader arms and tilt the Bobtach all the way back and maneuver the two hitches as close to the balls as you can you should be able to figure out how much to modify them.

Good luck and keep us posted. I have attached one of my pics here.

Thanks to both of you. I plan to take the measurements like you said, wings5j, but wanted to just see if I could get the measurements off the stock 911 just to double-check. I'll probably actually chop the arm brackets off, position them on the balls horizontally, move the bobtach w/ backhoe into position and measure the difference from there. I know there is a little wiggle room getting the balls into position. Shouldn't be too hard...

Quick question to whoever knows - When you attach these backhoes with the ball attachments, the quicktach is all the way back, but where in the stroke is the main loader arm? Do the balls engage with the loader arm all the way down? Or a little off the ground so it can clear things while you drive around? That'll help me line this up - thanks

To answer the question from above. The balls are to be fully engaged when the boom is all the way down. I remember this from the 1970's and 1980's when I would rent a bobcat with a backhoe attachment. This keeps all of the stress from the boom and transfer the energy to the frame of the bobcat, to save on wearing out the pins in the boom and tach plate. That should help.3130BBAD-C582-44A2-B66E-C6F4290A896F.jpeg

You guys have it easy compared to what have been working on over the last three days. Bought a 709 backhoe that was on a 2000 753 Bobcat last week and I am trying to get it to fit on a Thomas T133s. Have spent 20 hours cutting apart the brackets into individual parts. Then cutting, fitting, recutting, refitting over and over again I finally got the brackets to fit the Thomas. This was mostly 1" and 1/2" thick plates that needed to be cut and shaped, with all the holes that have to be hand drilled through the 1/2" thick side plates. Now that everything is fitted, brackets need to be removed and welded up 100% with my mig welder, cleaned up and reinstalled and hand drilled out to 5/8" holes for the bolts that came off the 753. When I looked up the price of the bracket kit from Bobcat, it was 1300.00 plus tax. I will NEVER buy anything directly from Bobcat for the backhoe. They want more than $750.00 for just seal kits for the cylinders and $1500.00 to replace the 18 hydraulic hoses that are 32 years old. Bobcat may be the largest manufacturer of skid steers, but way over charge for their parts. Even the decals for the 709 can be bought for less than 1/3 of the price Bobcat wants to charge for them. Sorry for the rant, guess I have never had to deal with Bobcat except for the renting of equipment over the last 45 years. I wish I only had the balls to deal with.
Be safe everyone.

Thanks very much for the photos Midwaycc - that helps a lot

AJ-17 nice work and looks like a good project. Yeah you're in it deeper for sure by cutting and welding those brackets.
For the cylinder seals - If you use the bobcat site to get the part numbers and then search around, you can find the seal kits for about $20-50 per cylinder. I just did my 3 main cylinders (not the swing) for about $80. I had trouble finding some of my seals, but yours is newer so it should be pretty easy. Note that probably not all the cylinders are the same, and some sites were selling the wrong kits for mine, so measure the bore and shaft to make sure they fit the kit.

For the hoses, I like surpluscenter.com. All the hoses seem to be about $15-20 each. You can just measure the old ones and you'll be able to find something they stock that's close in length. You might need to buy adapters or couplers to match the current ones but they're cheap too. I replaced 8 hoses for $180 shipped. The dealer prices are insane

Thanks for the help on this. Hacked it together and it fits nicely. I'll have to keep an eye on the lower weld to see if it needs reinforcement, but it should be fine for how I'll be using it.
Now just have to wait for the ground to stop being so waterlogged so I can get some projects rolling!
