Are any Bobcat PWM switches for auxiliary hydraulics interchangeable?

I've got the cobra style handle on my 853 and the PWM switch that controls the auxiliary flows is functioning, but sticky. The switches are not sold separately for the 853, and the handle 6704454 is not currently available from Bobcat, but handles for other 853 serial numbers are.

Has anyone successfully swapped a PWM switch from one model to another? I'd have to reverse search to see what models used my auxiliary control board for pure comparability, but my initial guess is that it would work. The generic ones are clearly less expensive.

Hi, did you ever try this?

I have a 1995 853 and both handle switches are dead ( I can feel them broken inside etc) I bought part number 6680414 which claims it is a "left handle" control, I plan to actually use this on my right handle instead. both handles on my bobcat look identical like this part number. the only Right hand control I could find is the delux version and I dont have that. I made a wiring map to match based on all the colors and plan to attempt to try to install it this week.

To anyone else, I read in these threads about someone buying 6680414 on alibaba from China instead of ebay or the bobcat store (both want a ton more $$) I made an account on alibaba and bought one of these as a gamble for ~180 bucks. It came in and looks perfect, it somehow has a made in canada sticker on it and for sure seems well constructed. Just a tip if you want to save 300$

Ha ha ha. That was me.

"I gave up on the replacement idea because for $162 found a new 6680414 on Alibaba."

HA it was you!!! well what I see they should work for either handle, I made a full wiring diagram on paper that seems to match well. Now to try and get the old wires out of the sockets on those plugs so I can re use them. I would rather do that than cut and splice, but i'll cut if I have too!

Post a picture of your wiring diagram, with a brief description for the next poor schmuck to find and use.

Get a very small probe and push it in the connection end - the pins will slide out and then push the metal tang on the pin up a smidge to reinstall it on the new handle wiring.

Below is how my old wiring corresponded to the new handle. Verify with a multimeter before assuming the manufacturer didn't change wiring colors.

So not the best news. The install went fairly smooth except my old handle had so much rust inside of it that the wires would not pull through. Luckily I had another spare handle I picked up on ebay for 40 bucks or so. Had no problems replacing the handle and fishing the wires though it and installing the plugs onto the new switch. Got it all hooked up fired up the bobcat and hit the aux button, green light comes on, sadly no function still. I guess its time to dig into the relays and wiring next. I've read a few threads on here about relays being the issue. my erial number is a strange one, I dont have boss even though the wiring diagram (the picture without my writing on it) has my serial number and claims it is BOSS. Those wire colors are right for my machine. I had printed that old non boss page so I just wrote on there what my wires were and scratched out the old info then matched up the wire colors from the left handle to match those on the the new right handle.

With the engine off, but key turned to provide 12v power, hit the aux button. On my 853 I can hear the relay click if everything is ok.

As for the handle switches after the AUX is engaged, I have the Apitech valve on my unit. The test for me is whether the two valves are getting power when the handle switch is engaged either direction.

Wateka, I'm currently going down the list of things to check for dead aux. front hydr function on a 753. Did your original question get an answer…PWM Module interchangeability?
I'm hoping the PWM module on mine is ok, but if it is toast, it's not available.

On my 853 there was no PWM.

It's just simple open-closed micro relays built in to the epoxy covered module controlled by open-closed switches in the handle.

Handle switches are easily replaceable with any replacement handle, as long as it's not a PWM handle.

I have not had to do this, but conceptually if your module is bad, bypass it. Wire up your own Bosch-style automotive relays that are controlled by the relevant switch and see what happens. You'll obviously have to do some testing with a multi-meter to identify the correct wires. There are obvious safety items you'll have to deal with if you bypass the module, such as making sure power is only provided to to AUX function when needed. If the handle switches were live all the time, bumping them could have negative consequences.

Thanks wateka. I imagine it could be done like you said, but on a similar thread, members warn about "Hall effect " switches in handle and that solenoid coils on valve spool do not get direct 12v dc. Some say 12v dc will burn coils out. The coils are like $400 ea. Oy! I'm doubting my coils both went kaput together ( I have no solenoid activation either direction on joystick). It's -7F and I have to open cab next in unseated space. Waiting for a few more degrees.
