The Freon is not leaking but can’t get compressor to engage. How do I determine where problem is. I was told to “hot wire” the compressor to see if works but don’t know how or where to do this. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I would start at the ac compressor clutch, make sure you can spin it and it moves freely, inspect the belt make sure its tight

Check the wire going to the clutch also, check for voltage

Ensure the fuse for ac, make sure you have 12 volts

If power is flowing to the clutch you will see the clutch spinning when turned on

If power is flowing but clutch is still not activating you can test the coil on the clutch by using a multimeter testing for ohms

There is a pressure switch inside the compressor that needs proper pressure to open or close, if your pressure is too low it will not turn the system on - Run die through system scheck for leaks - Check screen / filter / check dryer through eyesight - you can use soapy water test for leaks also

Here are some basics you can start off with if you need more help just let me know
