Hello All, I have a 1994 743B with operating capacity of 1300 lbs and I would like to purchase a root grapple for it preferably with two upper claws. I found a 60" lightweight unit (430 lbs) made by Loflin Fabrication that I like. I believe it has 3/8" tines, and it has lightening holes throughout every tine. They also offer a medium duty root grapple that has no lightening holes, and has 3/8" tines, and weighs 565 lbs. What are your thoughts? Would the 743B be better served by a 60" lightweight unit or a medium duty unit? Thanks in advance!

he lighter it is, the more you can move with it, the holes will make it slightly weaker, but lighter, so it's kind of a trade off really.
I'd like to go the medium duty as it “should” last longer.
Hopefully someone with one can give better advise.

I'd go with the stronger one. You will find yourself in a situation when your glad the attachment is stronger, unless you like to weld that is. Boys will be boys and we put our toys to test. I have a 753g with the same operating capacity and a 800lb brush cutter. The machine doesnt even know the brush cutter is there. Granted I'm not lifting anything other, but our machines will lift more than the rated capacity.

Ok thanks Tazza and Reaperman. That is kind of where I was leaning. So I found this unit also, a single cylinder grapple made by CID attach ments. It is only about 420 lbs, but looks strong. What are your thoughts on single cylinder root grapples? https://cidattachments.com/product/compact-tractor-root-grapple
