I'm trying to buy a small skid steer and some of them don't have aux. hydraulic hookups. I don't expect that will be an issue for my uses but, if it were, how expensive/difficult would it be to add the hookups later?

If it has the section in the control block it should be fairly easy, just free up the linkage to the lever and install tube lines, hoses and fittings. Honestly the best way if you plan on sing the aux hydraulics is to get one already plumbed. Other users have tried this before, not sure how they went. If you need to install an electric solenoid to operate it, you will be up for hundreds by the time you are done, hoses, pipes, fittings, solenoid it adds up fast.

If you need aux hyd a machine that has it is worth 750 to 1000 more to you because you will spend that much.
Some older loaders had the 3rd spool/section in the control valve but it was not plumbed out to the boom or hooked to a control linkage, If it has the section that would save 1/2 the cost of plumbing it yourself. Look for where the foot pedals conect to the hydraulic control valce and see if there is a unused section there.
Many of the small machines do not have this option, and with the gpm of there hydraulic pumps its really only good for running a cylinder like on a grapple of snow plow. The flow is to small for somthing like a brush cutter. Even the 553 has 8.5 gpm and it will run the auger but its slow compared to 15 to 17 gpm of the 40 to 50 hp loaders. (Still much better then digging by hand mind you)

Thanks, gentlemen. I just won a 2005 LS125 at auction for $4100. As you point out, the machine only has 8 gpm output so it might not be that useful, anyway.
