I just purchased what I thought would be a brand new Bobcat Skidsteer. It was purchased site-unseen from an out of town dealer. It turns out it was manufactured in 2014. Is this truly a "new" machine (only 15 hours). My first clue was the faded orange paint on the tailgate which I thought was odd. The dealer never mentioned model year or how long it may have sat in a dealership lot....potentially 2 years, I assume. Do I have grounds to complain or is this just the way things are with heavy equipment purchases? It's just not the faded paint issue, but the depreciation on an older model, as well as everything about the machine is up to 2 years old. If I traded this machine in next week, the first thing a dealer would tell me is that this model is 2 years old.....thereby affecting the resale value. Any thoughts or opinions out there?

I would hope the dealer gave you a good price to reflect the shape of the paint is they should have fixed it. I wouldn't get to worked up, model year doesn't really mean anything like on a car. Running changes arn't made by model year, but with serial number changes. Its not that uncommon for "older" new equipment to sit on a lot. With so many options, a lot of guys will order what they want, so lot machines can sit. Also warranty doesn't start until the unit is sold so you should have full warranty. As long as the price was good, I wouldn't call the dealer too shady.
