8875 question

Does anybody know what this sensor is for. There does not seem to be a wiring harness for it. Not sure if it is needed, everything seems to work on the dash display...

I fixed the image link, but it appears to be pointing to the wrong photo. If you could just drop the image name (ie DSC09505) I'll update the original so we can see if find your answer.
